If an item is showing as 'Available' on NELSON but is not on the shelves, there could be a number of reasons why:

  • Somebody else may be using it.
  • It may not be back in its correct place on the shelves as it may be on a trolley, or left on a table after use.
  • It may have just been returned.  If the catalogue lists the items as 'recently returned' it will be in the process of being sorted and shelved.
  • It’s always a good idea to double check NELSON to ensure you have the correct shelf mark. 

If you are struggling to find what you are looking for a second pair of eyes is always a good idea so just ask a member of staff.
