Spring Break Information

Library staff will be taking a well deserved break over the bank holiday weekend. We will be back in on Wednesday 3rd April at 9am but library services will still be running, and there are lots of UON teams onsite if you need them.

NELSON has millions of books and journals that are available to you as student at UON. But there are also lots of books and journals listed, so you know they exist, but you might not have full access to. When you are logged in you can access books and journals we subscribe to as you will have 'full-text' access, which means you can read the whole book or journal.

After initiating a search on NELSON you can expand the search results by ticking the "include results without full-text" box on the left-hand side of the search screen. This will include material outside the library's holdings and this means you can see the title and other information but you cannot read the whole book or journal in NELSON.

Full-text option is a slide button at the top of the filter menu

What can I do to read that book or article?

When there is a book or article that you need and UON do not have, we will find it for you. We have details about how to let us know. This is a free service for students and staff at UON. You will know if we do not have a version when you see 'Inter-Library Loans' in the 'How to get it' section. You can simply click on the arrow and complete the form.
