Spring Break Information

Library staff will be taking a well deserved break over the bank holiday weekend. We will be back in on Wednesday 3rd April at 9am but library services will still be running, and there are lots of UON teams onsite if you need them.

Staff, students, visitors and library members (SCONUL, associate and alumni) all need to carry their University issued ID cards at all times. These cards are required to get through the security barriers within the buildings on Campus.

Sometimes there are updates required to the ID cards, which are completed by touching your card to a card update point. There are several of these within the Learning Hub, they are small square white boxes with rounded edges and a logo that looks like a wi-fi symbol. The easiest to locate is on the ground floor of the Learning Hub, below the large wall-mounted screen in the foyer.

Touching your card to this point for several seconds should cause a green light to blink on the box, to indicate your card has been updated. It should now allow you access through the barriers.

if the light blinks red and not green, students need to speak to the Student Information Desk (on the ground floor of the Learning Hub). Staff, visitors and library members need to speak to the Senate Reception (on the ground floor of the Senate building), or a member of the Security team.

If you have lost your card, or it has been stolen, we have some guidance for you about replacing your card.
