Printing and photocopying is managed by the University’s IT department. Printing and photocopying is only available to staff and students of the University of Northampton, there is no printing facility for visitors or Associate Members (including SCONUL).

How do I photocopy on the printers?

If you are photocopying a document, you have two options for placing the item to be copied;

1) You can place it face down under the lid of the printer, aligning the item to the back-left corner. This is ideal for copying a page or two from a book, or something like a passport

Place the item away from you to the top left

2) You can place the document into the document feeder on the top of the printer. This is helpful if you are copying multiple pages of a document. Please ensure you have removed any staples before placing the document into the document feeder, otherwise it may damage the documents and jam the document feeder

3. Log in to the printer and select the ‘Copy’ option. We have a guide if this is your first time using the printers, or you need help logging in.

This will cause the copying setup page to appear. You can adjust the options to fine tune the output results, or use the default settings provided.

  • You can set the number of copies you require
  • You can choose if you want it to print single sided or double sided
  • You can scale a document up or down in size (A3 to A4, for example)
  • You can choose if you want staples
  • You can use ‘Paper Select’ to ask the printer to copy documents onto paper you are providing in the bypass tray. For example, if you wanted to print onto coloured paper, you can select the bypass tray, and provide the coloured paper in the bypass tray to print.

4. Once you have set up the copying options as you would like them, you can choose to start copying in colour (‘Colour Start’), or black and white (‘B/W Start’). These options are in the bottom right of the copying screen.

All the options appear on the printer menus
