Q. How do I create a qualitative Turnitin rubric from a template?

Answer

If you would like to use a Turnitin rubric template to provide qualitative feedback to your students in relation to your module Learning Outcomes then these steps will show you how to access and edit a qualitative rubric template.

Log in to NILE.

Select the NILE Home tab and locate the My Sites box.

Select the module where you want to add a rubric.

Select Submit your Work from the navigation menu.

Select Assessments from the menu bar.

Select Turnitin.

Select Paper Assignment.

Select Next.

Enter the Turnitin submission details.

Select Optional settings.

Scroll to the bottom section and select the Rubric / Form Manager link.

Select the top-left menu displayed as three horizontal lines to open the list of your rubrics.

At a minimum you should see two rubric templates for you to reuse.

Select either the Undergraduate Rubric (LO) or the Postgraduate Rubric (LO).

From the left-hand menu select Duplicate this Rubric to create a copy.

Give your new rubric a name based on the module code, the assignment title and an academic year to help you identify. eg: BUS1001-AS1-1920.

Select each left-hand LO cell and enter a shortened title for each Learning Outcome and add a full description beneath.

Complete each column cell with the statements relating to each level of attainment.

Use the + icon to additional LO rows, if required.

Click Save once you have finished editing your rubric.

Select Close.

Select the rubric from the dropdown menu to attach to the assessment.

PLEASE NOTE. After you have attached your rubric DO NOT SELECT the option 'Would you like to save these options as your defaults for future assignments?' as doing so will attach the rubric to ALL your future Turnitin submissions.
