Q. How do I grade a Blackboard assignment using a rubric?

When grading a Blackboard assignment if you have added a rubric, you will find this by clicking the small blue bar underneath the attempt (grade) box.

Screen-grab - Blackboard assignment details

The blue bar will expand to show the rubric above the feedback to learner box.

When you click on the rubric title (as below) you will see the rubric displayed as buttons.

For a more detailed view you can click the expand rubric icon :  and can then enter additional feedback.

Note in this example the rubric design has not been completed.

At the bottom of the rubric there is a 'Feedback to Learner' box. (highlighted below)

We suggest you do not need to enter text in the Feedback to Learner box within the rubric as there is a delay in this text feeding though into the 'Feedback to Learner'  box in the previous window and you risk duplication of your feedback if you use both.

Once you have made your rubric selections and added any additional text click 'Save'.

Add your feedback in the 'Feedback to Learner' box above.

In order for students to view the rubric, the grades must be released in the grade centre and the assignment setup must be set to allow users to view the rubric correctly - see this guide for further info.
