We prefer not to charge fines or issue replacement charges, these are a last resort.

We only charge fines for resources which are overdue while they have been requested by other library users, they are fined at £1 per resource per day.

Replacement charges are for books that have not been returned to us after becoming heavily overdue, or for lost or damaged items. For lost or non-returned items, finding and returning the book to us will waive the charge. For damaged items, we will accept a replacement copy if the ISBN is the same on the resource and it is a good condition copy.

For all of these, we will be in touch with how to pay and what needs to be paid. You can always discuss any replacement charges or fines with us by getting in touch with us, send an email to libraryteam@northampton.ac.uk and we'd be happy to talk with you.
