What letters can I request?
This guide provides an overview of the process for generating / requesting student status certificates which can be used to demonstrate your student status for a variety of purposes. UON provides a range of certificates of student status however the ones which you have access to will depend on your student profile (like your mode of study such as full-time or part-time, your residency status such as a home or overseas student and more). The below provides an overview of the student status certificates and the purpose of each:

Certificate of Student Status for General Purposes |
This certificate can be used to prove you are a student for non-specific purposes |
Certificate of Full-Time Student Status for Council Tax Purposes |
This certificate can be used to prove to the council that you are studying a full-time programme |
Certificate of Student Status for UK Banking Purposes |
This certificate can be used to prove you are a student for the purposes of opening a UK bank account |
Certificate of Student Status for Travel Abroad Purposes |
This certificate can be used to support a visa application if you are planning to travel to another country where you need a visa |
Certificate of Student Status for Work Purposes (General) |
This certificate can be used to inform an employer(s) that you are a student |
Certificate of Student Status for Work Purposes (Placement) |
This certificate can be used by placement students to confirm to employers that the placement is an integral part of your programme of study |
Certificate of Student Status for Work Purposes (Completed) |
This certificate can be used to inform an employer(s) that you have completed your studies and are awaiting your results |
How do I request a letter?
- Login to the SRS Student Portal
- Select 'My Studies'
- Select Generate / Request Certificates of Student Status
- Check and confirm your address details and 'Select Continue' if they are correct
- If your address details are incorrect and 'Select Update'. Follow the steps to update your address
- Click continue
- View the certificates of student status which are available to you. Click the “i” icon for more information about each certificate.
