Travelling during term time

If you are travelling during term time:

  1. You will need to submit an authorised absence request via your SRS Student Portal with evidence and an explanation for your absence

  2. Go to 'My studies', then select 'Request a change to my studies', then select 'Authorised Absence', and then follow the next steps.

  3. Your request will be sent to your programme leader to review

  4. If your programme leader approves your request, the Immigration Compliance Services (ICS) team will finalise your request and send the approval to the Student Records team

  5. The Student Records team will provide you with a travel letter, and it will be sent to your UON email address.

(Note: If you are currently on placement, then you must also send ICS an approval email from your employer / placement provider.)

Travelling during vacation period

If you are travelling during a vacation period (such as an official break from your programme) then you need to:

  1. Go to your SRS Student Portal

  2. Go to 'My studies', then select 'Request/Generate Student Status Certificates', then select 'Student Status Certificate for Travel Purposes', and then follow the next steps

  3. The Student Letters team (UON Help Desk) will send your travel letter to your UON email address once it has been approved.
