For the majority of our courses here at UON, we can allow deferral to the next available intake date either at the point of application or after you have had an offer.

Unfortunately though, due to limited places, some of our professional Healthcare or Performing Arts degrees do not accept deferred applications and we cannot guarantee that deferral requests after offer will be accepted. If you wish to find out if your course choice(s) accept deferrals, please email us at admissions@northampton.ac.uk or call us on 0300 303 2772.

How do I defer my application?

When you apply

If you already know you wish to defer before applying, you can select the deferred entry start date when adding a choice on your UCAS application or on your UON Clearing application.

Deferring after you hold an offer

Please email us at admissions@northampton.ac.uk to request the deferral. The email should include:

  • Your full name
  • Your UCAS Personal ID number
  • Your course title and original start date
  • Your new, preferred start date
  • The reason why. This is not essential but, if your deferral needs to be referred to the Admissions Tutor for consideration, then it may be helpful to include a few brief details.

Deferring after you get your exam results / after your place is confirmed

You can decide to defer your place at any point in the application cycle, up to your start date here at UON. Please send an email to admissions@northampton.ac.uk and include:

  • Your full name
  • Your UCAS Personal ID number
  • Your course title and original start date
  • Your new, preferred start date
  • The reason why. This is not essential but, if your deferral needs to be referred to the Admissions Tutor for consideration, then it may be helpful to include a few brief details.
