Once you have taken all of the assessments for a module, your results will be made available on the Student Records System (SRS) Student Portal.
Results then need to be checked and approved at two types of assessment board before they are confirmed:
- Tier 1 Assessment Board - Your grades for individual items of assessment (e.g. AS1, EX1) will be presented to a Module Board and your overall module grade is calculated and confirmed.
- Tier 2 Assessment Board - After this, all of your overall module grades will be presented to an Award and Status Board to determine either your progression decision or to confirm your award and classification.
In line with the University Regulations, we will make a decision about what opportunity you will have to complete any outstanding referred or deferred assessments and whether you can progress to the next stage of your studies.
If you are a final year student who has successfully completed your course, your degree classification will be calculated. More information on how your classification is calculated is found below:
Due to the new grading scheme being introduced by the University of Northampton from September 2024, any continuing students (for those that started prior to this date) will have both Alpha and Numerical grades on their student record/awarding transcript.
Grading criteria for both grade sets as indicated above can be found on the University Policies, Procedures and Regulations web page.
You can view your student record on the new Student Records System (SRS) Student Portal.
University policy means that we cannot help you calculate the degree classification as this outcome will be confirmed to you in your electronic award letter that will be sent within 48 working hours on the Award and Status Board taking place for your course, confirmation of the Award Board dates can be found on the Assessment Boards web page.
The awarding criteria for Undergraduate students is as follows:

Please note there is no borderline considerations as the University must adhere to all policies, procedures and regulations that are set in place.
