Every PebblePad workbook needs to have a Master copy, from which all future copies can be made.

The master document is:

  • Always fully up to date, the most current version.
  • Safe to edit and update throughout the year.
  • Never Live -never being used by students!
  • Stored in the resources of your resource/admin account. Not in your personal resources.

Whenever you have amendments to make to your workbook, always do these to the master.

When you are ready to deploy a new workbook to a new cohort, make a copy of the master, which should have been kept up-to-date. Rename the copy to replace the word 'master' in the title with the month and year the cohort started in brackets. This is the correct naming convention and it is important everyone follows the same pattern. From one year to the next do not make a copy of the previous year's workbook, make a copy of the master.

Warning: Do not make any alterations to a workbook that students have already started working on. You risk losing students' work! If you do need to edit a live workbook, it must be completely unavoidable, it must be something crucial to the function of the workbook and must be done in consultation with your learning technologist to ensure it is done as safely as possible. Any changes to the live workbook must be made and tested on the master first.
