Workshop dates are available on the workshop webpage. A variety of professional development workshops and sessions are offered to staff as part of the Academic and Professional Practice Scheme. You can find out when workshops and sessions are running through LibCal training portal, the portal for all professional development activity.
The workshops presented are designed to engage staff in activities that have direct practical relevance to their work in teaching and student support, and demonstrable impact on the student experience. Each of the workshops are:
- mapped according to alignment with the Dimensions of the PSF 2023 (Professional Values, Core Knowledge and Areas of Activity);
- available both as development towards Fellowship and as standalone workshops to enhance practice in teaching, learning and assessment, and in supporting students;
- delivered online or in-person and are usually between one to three hours in duration.
In the experiential route for Fellowship, a prescribed pathway is not necessary, as the Scheme offers flexibility by giving participants the opportunity to engage with the professional development offer at different stages of their career. Participants can therefore select those workshops which are appropriate to their role in learning and teaching and the skills they wish to develop.
In taking the experiential route, it is recommended that participants maintain a personal record of their development, the ways in which they integrate new ideas within their practice in teaching or student support, and their future plans. Participants can draw on this record of professional development in preparing for Fellowship assessment.
