Printing at the University

If you are using the printers for the first time you will need to register your card

 

Printing before 18/08/25

Printing is only available to staff and students of the University of Northampton. Please note that there is no printing facility for visitors or Associate Members (including SCONUL). 

Documents can be sent to the printers across campus using the online system called ‘PrintWeb’. You will need to login with your University ID (student number or staff username, followed by your password). Once sent, you will be able to 'release' (print out) your document from any printer on campus.

A quick overview on printing 

1. Login to the PrintWeb service with your University Student number/ Staff username and password.

2. Click ‘Web Print’, then ‘Submit a job’. You will need to select the format for printing from the listed options then click to continue; 

  • BW or Colour refers to whether you want the document printed in black and white, or in colour

  • Then choose whether you are submitting an A3 or A4 document and whether you would like to print single- sided or double- sided

3. Choose how many copies you would like to print, then click to continue

4. Upload the document you would like to print. The document needs to be saved to your device or saved in your OneDrive. Once done, click to continue

5.  Find a printer and login with your University ID and password.

6. Release the document to print from a University printer. If you haven't used the printer before, you will need to register your card for the first time.

7. Select the item you would like to print

Tick the box to select the file

8. Press Print to print out your file.

If you see a charge for printing, please ignore this as credit is no longer required.

Printing from 18/08/25

Summer 2025 brings an all-new printing solution to the University, in the form of new (grey) printers replacing the old (beige) ones, and the removal of the Print Web service which is being replaced with Print Deploy.

To get up-and-running with Print Deploy:

  • Download the Print Deploy installer for your device by clicking on one of the links below.
  • Download the installer
  • Run the file from your download folder
  • On the first screen press “Next”

  • It will then install

  • Then when prompted Press Finish

  • Once successfully installed, you should see a green printer icon
    • On MacOS this will be in the top-right on the menu bar
    • On Windows this will be in the bottom-right on the taskbar (you may have to press the arrow to show it)

  • Login with your university email address and password, and wait for the new printers to install, these are:
    • Windows:
      • UON-Staff-Win01
      • UON-Staff-Win02
      • UON-HeavyPaper01 (specific Teams only)
      • UON-Transparency (Specific teams only)
    • MAC/Student Windows Printers:
      • UON-MobilityPrint-BW
      • UON-MobilityPrint-Colour
  • If the Print Deploy login screen doesn’t appear automatically, click the green icon and select “view my printers” to launch it
  • After a few seconds, these should both show “installed”, and you can close the window
  • Then all you need do is choose the required printer from your apps, and print directly to the printer.
