You can request to restart your studies either on the same or a different programme once during your period of study. The request must be made by filling in a restart form. Restarting studies means that any grades that you have achieved previously will not be carried forward.

It is important to be aware that once a restart is approved it is normally expected you stop studying and then return at the start of the next academic year, which means that any funding from Student Finance England (or other providers) will stop and you will no longer be permitted to live in Halls of Residence. Because of this it is recommended that you make an appointment with:

If you are an International Student then restarting will also have some implications for your student visa, so you will need to speak to the International Student Support Team who have drop-ins and appointmenst or you can email them at iss@northampton.ac.uk to discuss this.

Usually we would not permit a restart after the deadline has passed, or in Year 2 and Year 3 of undergraduate study, unless mitigating circumstances are severe enough to explain a lack of engagement with study.

To speak to somebody about restarting, please contact the Student Support and Advice Team at studentsupportofficers@northampton.ac.uk or call 01604 892600
