• All students and staff who use the Kaltura Capture recorder must sign out of the recorder immediately and connect it to the new Kaltura location at mymedia.northampton.ac.uk before making any new recordings.
• Do not make any recordings using Kaltura Capture unless you are sure that you are connected to mymedia.northampton.ac.uk, as any recordings made while signed in to the old version of the Kaltura Capture recorder will no longer be able to be uploaded to NILE.

General guidance about the Capture software
Kaltura Capture is a screen and webcam recorder available for Windows and Apple laptop and desktop devices but it is not available for ChromeBooks.
Students with a ChromeBook only can loan a laptop from the University to use Kaltura Capture. Other options include the use of a free Chrome browser extension like Screencast-o-matic to record your screen or for longer recordings you might want to look at Screencastify which offers a paid account.
How to download Kaltura Capture Software on Windows:
1. Using a Chrome browser, navigate to mymedia.northampton.ac.uk and log-in to your Kaltura MediaSpace account.
2. In the Add New menu and select Kaltura Capture from the dropdown menu.
3. At The Kaltura Desktop Recorder page, click on the Download for Windows link. This should begin the installation process:
4. When downloaded the Kaltura Capture Setup Wizard will open - click Next:
5. On the Installation Settings screen click Next:
6. Click Install to begin the installation process:
7. Click Finish on the final screen to complete the installation:
8. The Kaltura Capture software should now be installed on your device and ready for use.
How to download Kaltura Capture Software on Apple Mac:
1. On the MediaSpace homepage select Kaltura Capture from the Add New drop-down menu. You will be redirected to a download page.
2. Click Download for Mac to download the application.
3. Double click the .dmg file to open it.
4. Drag the Kaltura Capture application icon to the applications folder.
5. Kaltura Capture is now installed in your Applications folder.
6. The Kaltura Capture software is now installed.
7. ENABLE PRIVACY SETTINGS
You now need to allow Kaltura Capture access to your screen, camera and microphone in your Mac's settings so it can record video and audio. This step ensures that the app functions correctly and that your recordings include both video and audio.
To change these settings, choose Apple menu > System Settings > click Security & Privacy in the sidebar (you may need to scroll down.), then click Privacy.
SCREEN RECORDING PERMISSIONS
Close Kaltura Capture.
Go to System Preferences.
Click on Security & Privacy.
Click the Privacy tab at the top.
In the left-hand column, click on Screen Recording.
In the right column, check the box next to Kaltura Capture app to grant access to Screen Recording.
You might need to click the lock in the bottom left to allow editing.
Restart the application after changes are done to take effect.
CAMERA PERMISSIONS
Go to System Preferences.
Click the icon labeled Security & Privacy.
Click the Privacy tab at the top.
In the left-hand column, click on Camera to manage app permissions.
In the right column, check the box next to Kaltura Capture app to grant access to the camera.
Restart the application after changes are done to take effect.
MICROPHONE PERMISSIONS
Select System Preferences.
Click the icon labeled Security & Privacy.
Click the Privacy tab at the top.
In the left-hand column, click on Microphone to manage app permissions.
Tick the box next to Kaltura Capture app to grant access to the microphone.
Restart the application after changes are done to take effect.
