The University of Northampton library is a member of the SCONUL Access scheme. SCONUL (Society of College, National and University Libraries) represents the UK university libraries and provides a nationwide scheme that allows students and staff to access other university libraries that participate.

Current students and members of staff at the University of Northampton can apply through SCONUL to gain access to other participating libraries, because UON are in the scheme. Staff and students at other universities that are part of the scheme can apply for access at the University of Northampton library.

It is free to apply for SCONUL membership, and once approved you can then apply for membership at any participating university library. This includes access to visit and view library collections, and may also include some borrowing rights.

I'm a student or member of staff at the University of Northampton, and I want to borrow from another university library

Staff and students of the University of Northampton can apply for SCONUL access to other participating libraries. In order to apply for SCONUL access to another university library, your UON library account must be in good standing and show you to be a responsible borrower. We have more information on our website.

Once you have been approved, you can contact the library you would like to visit. They are likely to have another application process, where you will need to provide evidence of your SCONUL access - all libraries have their own process, as well as rules and regulations which need to be followed.

As a student from another university you can apply for SCONUL Access if your institution is part of the SCONUL Access scheme. We have information on the scheme and an application form available for eligible staff and students from other institutions.
