If you are a current student or member of staff at the University of Northampton you can connect to the University's student or staff network. There are also networks for guest visitors and a dedicated network for gaming and smart devices.

Using a laptop

Windows

In the notification area of your laptop, next to the time and volume controls, click on the wifi logo to see the networks you can connect to.

Select the network UoN_Student (if you are a student) or UoN_Staff (if you are a member of staff). Enter your University ID (student number or staff ID), followed by your University password.

Macbook

Go to the top right of the screen, by the battery and date/time, and click on the Wi-Fi icon to bring up the list of networks.

Select the network UoN_Student (if you are a student) or UoN_Staff (if you are a member of staff). Enter your University ID (student number or staff ID), followed by your University password.

Using a phone or tablet device

Open the Settings app on your device and then select wifi. You will see the available wifi networks. Choose UoN_Student (if you are a student) or UoN_Staff (if you are a member of staff). Once you have selected this, follow instructions below for your device.

Gaming network

UON has a wifi network that is dedicated to gaming equipment. You can not automatically join this network, you must register your device first. This is done through the IT self-service portal and there is guidance available.

Visitors

If you are a visitor to the University with your own device you can connect to and use the guest wifi option. Please follow our guest wifi guide on how to connect.

Eduroam wifi network

If you are staff or a student at another University you can use the Eduroam wifi network by choosing Eduroam from the available wifi networks on your device. We have a guide that can help you with Eduroam. Speak to your home institution if you need assistance connecting.
