A construction phase plan must be prepared for a project before the construction phase begins. The plan must outline the Health and Safety arrangements, site rules and specific measures concerning any work involving the risks listed in Schedule 3 of the CDM 2015 Regulations.

You must pay attention to:

  • asbestos or other contaminants;
  • overhead power lines and underground services;
  • unusual ground conditions;
  • public rights of way across the site;
  • nearby schools, footpaths, roads or railways, and;
  • other activities going on at or close by to the site.

Non-Notifiable construction projects

Inconsistent application of Health and Safety controls to smaller construction works or projects that could increase the potential for accident or injury to staff, students or others.

Notifiable construction projects

Large construction projects involving a number of external contractors and trades could introduce a range of significant hazards and risks which if uncontrolled could lead to increased risk of accident and injury.

There is also a homepage that lists the range of Health and Safety risks identified as relevant to the University's activities and facilities, together with information on the University's policies and arrangements on how these risks are to be managed and controlled.
