Should I report a First Aid injury?
Yes, there is a reporting process with details on how to report a First Aid incident.
Calling an ambulance
If the incident appears to be life threatening and requires an ambulance, then please DO NOT WAIT FOR A FIRST AIDER. For a serious emergency, inform Security as appropriate, and they will make the necessary arrangements for an ambulance to be summoned.
It is extremely important that the following details are given to Security:
- Exact location of incident
- Details of what the problem is and if possible whether a stretcher or wheelchair is needed.
- Extension number of the nearest phone to the incident
- Name of the First Aider/person in charge.
What provisions do UON have to make in relation to First Aid?
The University must ensure it has suitable and sufficient arrangements in place across each of its locations including halls of residence and academic buildings to provide an effective first aid response.
Who provides First Aid treatment?
The Campus Security team are the University’s principal providers of first aid support, and all Security team members hold current First Aid at Work Qualifications.
To request first aid assistance from Campus Security call 2269 (01604 872269). The Campus Security emergency number is 2777 (01604 892777)
