A video showing how to set your PIN, borrow and return a laptop

Where can I set my PIN?

The only one reason you will need your PIN is to borrow a laptop from a laptop cabinet. You can now change your PIN inside your library account in NELSON.

How do I log in to my library account?

Navigate to NELSON and, in the top right-hand corner you will see the login button

White button saying 'loin to NELSON'

You will then see two login options. If you are a student or member of staff using the ‘University login’ click the link and it will log you in.

There are two login options; University login for students and staff. Other users for different member types.

You will then be logged in and the login button will have changed to your name or student / staff number.

""

Where will I find my PIN now?

Go to your name or student number in the top right and click the arrow. Navigate to ‘My Account’ and the ‘Personal Details’ tab.

There are 6 tabs; overview, loans, requests, fines and fees, blocks and messages and personal details

Click ‘Change my PIN’ (if using a phone you may need to scroll to see this option) and type your new 4-digit PIN in the box. Make it a number that you will remember and do not start it with a 0. For example, 2512 not 0251. Make sure you click save.

Type you new PIN straight in to the box

You can now go to a laptop cabinet and borrow a laptop.

Where can I borrow a laptop?

There are laptop cabinets on several floors in the Learning Hub: on the Ground Floor through the glass doors near the UON Help Desk, near the UON Help Desk on the Second Floor, on the Third Floor near the book borrowing machine. The staff laptop cabinet is located on the Second Floor of the Learning Hub.

You cannot save onto the laptop - you must save your work to your OneDrive. We have a guide available that explains how to use OneDrive to make your work safe and accessible to you. OneDrive is a free facility for students and staff.
