A video showing how to return a laptop

  1. Make sure you have saved your work to OneDrive, You cannot save onto the laptop - you must save your work to your OneDrive. We have a guide available that explains how to use OneDrive to make your work safe and accessible to you. OneDrive is a free facility for students. Shut the laptop down
  2. Return to the same cabinet it was borrowed from - you will need your University ID card and PIN
  3. Scan your card in the reader under the screen

Scan you card in the reader under the screen

enter you PIN on the screen

4. You will be asked to return the laptop, plugging in both cables. The light in the locker will flash to help you locate it. Please ensure you reconnect both the power lead and data cable to the laptop, then close the cabinet door. You must plug both cables in and close the door securely for the cabinet to recognise that the device has been returned. The red light will show to the right of the drawer when you have correctly connected the laptop. It will now be returned, and you can borrow another laptop if you need to.

Both leads are plugged in and the light is red on the locker, the laptop has been returned successfully

I'm having trouble with the cabinet, what should I do?

During the library's staffed hours, you can go to the Library help Desk on the 2nd floor of the Learning Hub and we will be happy to help you. Outside of these times, please go to the Student Information Desk on the ground floor. If you are returning a laptop, you will be given a paper receipt and the laptop will be taken off you library account as soon as library staff are in again.
