Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (known as SPSS), is a software package used for interactive, or batched, statistical analysis which the University of Northampton provides for you to use.

You can download SPSS from the Student Hub and there are instructions which will guide you on how to install SPSS. We have separate guides if you are using a Windows device or a Apple Mac device.

There are lots of ways to contact IT if you need help or support with downloading SPSS:

You can visit IT Services on the SID on the ground floor of the Learning Hub:

  • Mondays to Thursdays 8.30am to 5pm

  • Fridays 10am to 5pm.

You can also call the IT helpdesk on 01604 893333:

  • Mondays to Thursdays 8am to 5pm

  • Fridays 8am to 9am, and then 10am to 5pm.

You can also raise a ticket in the IT Portal at any time.

Library and Learning Services are happy to help with using SPSS. The Maths and Stats team have a drop-in and bookable tutorials where you can pop in and ask a quick question. LinkedIn Learning also has videos to help with using SPSS. We have a guide available for logging in and using LinkedIn Learning, which is free for students and staff at UON.
